#Gafartawa in Hausa means ‘Forgiveness’ – The one that has been ‘forgiven much loveth much; but the one has been forgiven little loveth little’ (Luke 7:47). It is not our ability to love and forgive that proves that we are christians; it is rather the revelation of who Christ is that allows us to love and forgive – Remain blessed in the Lord.
When one is in grave error due to the fact they have not truly repented and by God’s Grace been given a revelation of God’s Eternal love for them in Christ at the Cross; they can be labelled as ‘False Converts’. One of the characteristics of these people and those who are use to hearing stories about them is how often they are abused and maltreated at the hands of terribly erroneous men and women who call themselves ‘prophets’ within todays contemporary church. The so called ‘prophets’ are incuring and will incur God’s Wrath on that day and will have to give an account for that which they have done.
Nevertheless; it is worth pointing out at the same time that the abused are not victims of false prophets; these false prophets can also be interpreted as God’s Judgement upon the people. There have been some horrific stories that has come to my attention of women in South Africa, Nigeria and East Africa doing all sorts of things and obeying all sorts of commands from so called ‘men and women of God’ to receive their blessing and their breakthrough and their continual assurance of salvation. These stories of error upon the motherland are matched by the exact phenomena of what we see in churches right here in London, Western Europe and i’m pretty sure the U.S. and beyond. Religious attendances within the ‘church’ of Healing and Financial breakthrough conferences, Catholic Mass, Deliverance Programmes, Relationship Seminars and more re matched by demands of buying oils, perfumes, cloths, books, prosperity gospel resources and more. In nut shell: Christ’s words in John 19.30 ‘It is Finished’ must be disagreed with. Within these cults; because what Jesus has done at the cross is not enough – one needs to do x and y in order to continue, contribute or demonstrate their salvation.
These teachers are creeping into their homes, sneaking past pastors and husbands, most likely by doing their work during the day when the women are available and others are occupied… If in that day the false teachers were men, today they are men and women. If in that day the teachers went from door-to-door, today they go on the printed page or the digital screen. If in that day they crept into houses when no one was looking, today they slip unseen between the covers of books or through slick videos and popular conferences. (Tim Challies, Capturing Weak Women)
Within this phenomena of strange and abusive heresy produced by these false prophets, 2 Timothy 3 goes further and says it’s very likely women are the victims. Now we know that godless myths and irrelevant truths and false doctrine will gain a hold in the latter days of both men and women (2 Tim 3.6, Matt 7.15, 2 Thess 3.6 & 1 Tim 4.7) who not bound by a God given Love for Christ and His Word. But with false prophets, men and women are to be aware of such – women more.
When godlessness knocks at your door through the form of television or the computer, shut it off. When godlessness knocks at you door through what you hear on the radio, turn it off. When godlessness knocks at your door through the books you read, put them down and get rid of them. When godlessness knocks at your door in your mind, immediately take that thought captive to Christ. (Elian R. Price, The Weak Willed Woman)
One of the ways to test yourself in the faith (2 Cor 13.5 & 2 Tim 2.15) is to see whether you continue out of the Love for Jesus Christ that God has given you to search the scriptures (Acts 17.11) verifying whether that which preachers and teachers of God’s Word close to you proclaim is true. Furthermore; you will do this abiding assuredly and delightfully at the feet of Jesus Christ seeing the face of Jesus Christ in the scriptures emptied of all notions of self-ability, resting in His Presence of All-Sufficiency enjoying listening to His Word – like a certain Mary in Luke 10.39. To be watchful, prayerful and teachable, searching the scriptures having ‘arrived at the pillar of truth’ that Christ and His Atonement has acheived is what false prophets hate. Because they have no capture over the redeemed bound by God’s Word. But to be emotion-led and not word-led follower who follows passions never having truly submitted oneself to the finished work of the perfect person of Jesus Christ; this will lead one to be ‘always learning and never able to arrive at the truth’ which is exactly the characteristic in 2 Tim 3.6 false coverts will exhibit – to the delight of false prophets.
Be careful not to make idols of the imaginary characters. Idealized romance is a woman’s porn. Run to Jesus for the love that is pure and true. The Savior is the only One in whom you can perfectly trust with your heart and your life. Christ is the primary One to whom you want to appear beautiful. He is the only One who has given His life that you might be forgiven and redeemed. If you call yourself a Christian, Jesus Christ is your Husband and you are His Bride. Do not commit adultery. Don’t make a whore of yourself with any man, real or imaginary. You are only fooling yourself, putting a gold ring in your snout will never make you beautiful. A pig is still a pig even with glittering jewelry. (Sanctuary Ministries, Are you a silly woman?)
Dear Christian; examine yourself to see whether you be a vain, foolish, weak, silly, frivolous or shallow. Be on guard for anything and anyone who would take advantage of your sin-influenced emotions and man-desiring tendencies. Ask the Lord to help you avoid being among the hordes who hang onto every Twilight Christian book and film. There are many books and many authors. But we don’t measure God’s Word via these books; we measure these books and these authors via God’s Word. Devote yourself to the Holy Bible. Treat it like your life depends on it; because according to The Word; it does.
